Varnish Software is a Scandinavian-based tech company developing powerful caching technology for some of the world’s biggest players in the content delivery market. What You’ll do

As a C-developer, you’ll be part of the distributed C-team, mainly located in Scandinavia, but also in the US and France. You’ll continue to maintain and develop our core-product, Varnish Enterprise and related VMODs. On a daily basis, you’ll develop features, fix bugs, and always have the bigger picture and end-user in mind. Part of the job will include low-level OS interfacing to optimize memory handling, disk operations, thread synchronization etc.

You’ll get a sense of technical freedom and ownership, since we always consider quality over quantity and work on long-term ongoing projects. At R&D, you’ll have the opportunity to modify your own assignments, whether you’d like to participate in customer dialogues, business travels, be involved in the open-source project, or solely be in the technical sphere.

You’ll work at our office in Karlstad or in Oslo.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own time well and be self-motivated

• Collaborate with your co-workers and participate in technical discussions

• Test your code and review colleagues’ code

• Solve bugs and improve our software

• Assist with supporting our customers

• Write clean, readable code that is easy for others to understand

• Contribute to our open-minded and friendly culture

Must-Have Qualifications

• Technical interest and a drive to keep up-to-date with new technologies

• Friendly, humble, and self-disciplined person with a meticulous mind

• At least 2-3 years of experience as a software engineer

• Comfortable with C or similar low-level programming language

• Experience with multithread application

• Modern development tools such as Linux and Git

• Experience with using test-driven development
