The digital transition in society is fast and exploitationit off tech requires both advanced digital and broad competence.

The purpose of S3 Värmland is to map and identify digitallization needs within the seven areas within Smart Specialization from a horizontal perspective. The purpose is also to inventory already developed tools and working methods in order to be able to create consensus in the next step and in the best way integrate and develop tools for increased digitization. Smart Specialization forms part of Värmland's research and innovation strategy and is expected to be able to contribute to a great extent in all four areas of effort identified in Värmland's strategy. The identified and prioritized areas of action are:

  • Improve living conditions
  • Increase competence
  • Develop attractive locations
  • Strengthen competitiveness

Tech and digitization affect all industries and can be seen as a new base industry or an enabler for strengthened competitiveness. Compare has been given the regional assignment by Region Värmland to be responsible for the Digitisation platform. A preliminary study has been started to identify the current situation and how the work will need to look like going forward. After that, effective ways to work with digitization at different levels in the areas will be developed. Compare also has a certain responsibility in the area of Social Security, where Karlstad municipality has platform responsibility, but Compare runs the cyber security track.
