Help start a local branch of SAST (Swedish Association for Software Testing) in Värmland, urges Henrik Emilsson at Know IT Karlstad and invites to a first meeting on January 29 at Compare Testlab.

SAST is a non-profit association for anyone interested in software testing. The association was founded in 1995 in Stockholm to create a forum where members can exchange experiences in testing. Since then, the number of members has increased and two local branches have been started – one in the Öresund region and one in Gothenburg.

SAST would like to see test networks built all over Sweden. And that is something that Henrik Emilsson – tester at Know IT Karlstad – has taken note of.

"With a couple of hundred working with tests at the Compare companies, we should have our own local department here in Värmland," says Henrik, who helped start the local department in Gothenburg. "By organizing our own breakfast meetings and seminars, we don't have to go to Stockholm - and that gives significantly more testers the opportunity to be part of the network."

"Starting a local branch for SAST in Värmland is completely in line with our investment in a regional competence center in testing - therefore we fully support the initiative and hope for broad support from the Compare companies," says Sven Wedemalm at Compare Testlab. "Through SAST Värmland, we can together strengthen testing competence while at the same time making it easier to make visible the collective testing resources available in the region".

The association's purpose is to create a forum where the association's members can exchange experiences, to offer the opportunity to create networks, to promote development in software testing and to promote the association's members' skill development.

"In SAST Värmland, we want to live up to that by arranging local breakfast seminars with interesting talks for those who work with tests, while at the same time the members have the opportunity to take part in the larger test conferences organized by SAST in Stockholm", explains Henrik Emilsson.

A first meeting to start the local branch SAST Värmland will be held on Friday 29 January at 08:00-10:00 at Compare Testlab in Sätterstrand (Hammarö).

"Then we will present SAST and together lay out the plans for the new local department," says Henrik Emilsson, who is already accepting expressions of interest via email henrik.emilsson@knowit.se.
