E-CLIC håller slutkonferens i Karlstad

Ben Woldring (Bencom) och Carl Fredrik Kastengren (Tieto) är huvudtalare när E-CLIC (European Collaborative Innovation Centres for Broadband Media Services) håller slutkonferens i Karlstad.

Slutkonferensen för E-CLIC hålls 6-7 december med deltagare från innovationscenter för bredbands- och mediatjänster runt Nordsjön - däribland E-CLIC Värmland som utgörs av Compare, Karlstads universitet och Länsstyrelsen Värmland. Inom E-CLIC Värmland ligger huvudfokus på mobil kommunikation och kvalitetssäkring. Karlstads universitet och Compare testlab medverkar i utveckling, testning och kvalitetssäkring av nya bredbands- och mediatjänster.

Den andra konferensdagen - onsdag 7 december - är öppen för alla och kostnadsfritt. Temat för dagen är "Internet Innovations for the Future" med två huvudtalare - Ben Woldring från The Bencom Group i Holland och Carl Fredrik Kastengren från Tieto i Karlstad. Under dagen kommer också bästa applikation för Bergviks Köpcenter att utses bland studenter från flera länder som deltar i en tävling.

Ben Woldring, born February 6, 1985 in Groningen, is a Dutch internet entrepreneur and millionaire from Usquert who first rose to fame in the fall of 1998 when, for a school assignment, he made a website where consumers could compare prices for mobile phone services. In 1999, the website Bellen.com registered its 100,000th visitor; a year later, Woldring started the company Bencom B.V. In 2003, he won Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award and on November 14, 2006 he was named the best European Entrepreneur under 25 by Business Week. He is also an ambassador for the Beatrix Kinderkliniek in Groningen and the Stichting voor het Gehandicapte Kind. As of September 2009, he owns nine price comparison websites, with the hotel comparison site LookingforBooking.com as his most recent project. Woldring also wrote an autobiography, Ik Ben Internet-ondernemer, published in 2000, in which he describes his life, explains his work and also gives advice.

Carl Fredrik Kastengren is a Mobility Evangelist and Business Developer at Tieto. He started his telecom career as project manager and product manager within telecom infrastructure R&D at Ericsson. In 2002 he moved on to Tieto as business developer though keeping one leg in telecoms while moving the other more and more towards IT. The last three years his focus has been within business strategies as machine-2-machine (m2m) communication, smart phones and tablets open up the world of connected people and connected devices.
